What is Title IX?

Title IX is a federal civil rights law from 1972 that says: schools that get federal funding cannot discriminate based on sex.
HERA offers Title IX guides for student survivors in schools, offering them in Spanish, Korean, Mandarin, etc.

Definitions:
Sexual Harassment
- Unwelcome sexual conduct that is severe, pervasive, AND objectively offensive
- Quid pro quo (authority figure conditioning benefits on sexual favors)
- Hostile environment (conduct so serious it denies equal access to education)
Sexual Violence
- Sexual assault (any non-consensual sexual contact)
- Dating/domestic violence
- Stalking (repeated unwanted contact causing fear)
